Our 10-Year Journey: From Suits to Sawdust
Ten years ago, Suits & Sawdust began in a Cambridge garage. By day, Mike worked in hospitality wearing a suit. By night, he filled the garage with sawdust, building custom wood pieces that sparked the beginnings of what is now a full-service millwork and cabinetry studio serving Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Stratford, and beyond.
The Early Days
The first projects were small — handcrafted pieces for friends and family, built after hours and on weekends. But as word spread, so did demand. It wasn’t long before the garage was too small and the vision too big to ignore.
Turning Passion into Practice
In 2015, Suits & Sawdust officially launched. With a commitment to quality materials, respectful service, and timeless design, we started building not just cabinetry and decks, but trust. From the beginning, our goal was simple: do good work, treat people well, and create spaces that last.
Building a Team
No business succeeds alone. Over the years, we’ve grown into a close-knit team of builders, designers, and coordinators who share the same values. Each member brings a unique skill set, but together, we share one vision: to make every project no less than perfect.
Evolving Services
What started with built-ins and small woodworking projects has grown into a full-service studio. Today, we design and install everything from custom kitchens and mudrooms to fences, decks, and pergolas. Our portfolio reflects both our versatility and our drive to keep raising the bar.
Challenges Along the Way
Like any journey, it hasn’t always been smooth. Supply chain issues, learning curves, and the challenges of growing a business tested our resilience. But each obstacle made us stronger, forcing us to adapt, improve, and refine our process.
Where We Are Today
Now, Suits & Sawdust is proud to serve clients across Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Oakville, and across all of Ontario. With a reputation built on craftsmanship, integrity, and client-first service, we’ve become a trusted partner in both interiors and exteriors.
Closing Reflection
Looking back, the journey has been humbling — but also inspiring. From garage beginnings to a full-service studio, we’ve grown because of the trust of our clients, the dedication of our team, and the support of our community. And while we’re proud of the last 10 years, we’re even more excited for what comes next.
